Linda Bannon aged 35 and her son Timmy aged 9 are born without arms. This is not a normal condition – they are affected by the Holt Oram syndrome which is a rare condition found among people. This rare condition affects the bone growth and also creates various heart problems.
Mrs. Bannon has been trained since childhood and she can easily eat the food using the cutlery, she can even sew using her feet and she is also excellently trained to apply makeup.
Timmy Bannon behaves totally like a normal child. He can play computer games like any other child and also plays various outdoor sports. Mrs. Bannon mentioned that she tried using prosthetic limbs but she was uncomfortable with them.
For most of us doing our household work is a tedious or rather a boring task but for this mother son duo simple task like cleaning or cooking simple dishes, washing clothes and making the bed is almost an impossible challenge for them. But despite having such handicap she refused to give in and decided to lead a normal life by using her feet in place of the hands.
Mrs. Linda Bannon got married in the year 2004 to Mr. Richard Bannon but she is happy that her husband was not fazed by her disability and accepted her happily. Both Mr. and Mrs. Bannon decided to start a family and when she was pregnant the doctors mentioned that there are more than 50 percent chances that the child would inherit the disability the mother had. This did make her think again about having a baby but both of them really wanted a family and went ahead with the delivery.
When Timmy Bannon was born he had two holes in his heart and was treated for 2 months in the hospital till he got home.
He has now recovered totally and Mrs. Linda Bannon has left no stone unturned to teach all that she can to make him independent and behave like a normal child. Mrs. Bannon is now getting trained to become a motivational speaker to help people who face similar disabilities.
