Poland’s New Battle Tank Features an Invisibility Cloak That Hides It from Enemy Forces
Nowadays, “Stealth” and “Precision Delivery Systems” are two popular buzz words when it comes to military technology. We have stealthy fighters and bombers that deceive the enemy’s radar system by appearing invisible on the radar screens. We hear of cruise missiles, which can deliver ordnance remotely and with great accuracy. In the last few years, we have seen more and more use of the drone technology for attack purposes. Drones have been used for reconnaissance purposed for a fairly long time as it has always been more or less stealthy because of their small size and radar invisible construction materials, but nowadays its ability to be remotely controlled is being exploited as an accurate weapons delivery platform.
In the realm of ground based battle, however, “stealth” has never taken a front seat. That may soon change. A very recent report says that Poland has developed a new tank which can become invisible under battle conditions. Jaw dropping right? Yes but true. Poland has recently displayed a mockup named the PL-01 which not only is stealthy but is capable of a massive amount of fire power with great accuracy.
One cannot deny the indispensable part that battle tanks play in modern warfare, however, invisibility was not something they could boast of. In tank warfare all the navigation and aiming is done using infra-red systems since visibility is very low during battle. This works well as tanks and guns as also humans give off infra-red radiation. This tank takes care of that by adopting an infra-red camouflage system. The body consists of hexagonal plates which are capable of measuring the heat readings from the surrounding area. It can then alter the heat signature of the vehicle to match its surroundings. The tank would then just blend into the background.
The weapons system is also massively powerful. The PL-01 has a 120mm main gun and 2 turrets which function as secondary weapons. It has a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. Mounted on top is a weapons station which is remotely controlled from the inside. This means the PL-01 is capable of hitting targets anywhere on the battle field. The tank weighs 35 tonnes and has a 3 man crew.
The first prototype for testing will be ready in 2016, and if successful, production will commence arund the turn of the decade. The PL-01 is still mainly on the drawing board, and to what degree it fulfills the intentions of its designers remain to be seen.https://www.aartiinformatics.com/uncategorized/polands-new-battle-tank-features-an-invisibility-cloak-that-hides-it-from-enemy-forces/Poland’s New Battle Tankhttps://www.aartiinformatics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Poland’s-New-Battle-Tank.jpghttps://www.aartiinformatics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Poland’s-New-Battle-Tank-300x300.jpgUncategorizedbattle tank, battle tanks, military technology, new battle tank, poland new battle tankNowadays, “Stealth” and “Precision Delivery Systems” are two popular buzz words when it comes to military technology.
