10 Amazing Foods! Ever Heard Any Of These?
America. The land of plenty. It is said that anything you could ever want is available here, or at least can be obtained. However, you will be surprised at the number of items of food we cannot get here, for money or for love. They are very delicious, though mostly junk food.
Here is a list of 10 such foods.
1. Aero Bar
Aero bars were originally produced in the UK, and have a unique soft texture full of little bubbles.Available in several flavors it is now to be had in Australia, Canada, and South Africa. But not in the States. Shown here is the Mint Bar.
2. Clam Chowder Doritos
Whoever has heard of a Clam Chowder Doritos? The Japanese have. Corn chips dressed in clam chowder, they are but one of the many different flavors that Frito Lay Japan produces. A couple of others are Grilled Chicken Skewer Doritos or even Squid and Soy Sauce Doritos. Given that it is the Japanese wing of an American company, it’s a wonder they are not available here. Go figure!
3. Mega Mac
Another one that is eminently doable here but isn’t. The Mega Mac dwarfs the Big Mac with 4 beef patties, and stands twice as tall as our largest MacDonald’s product. You can get it in Australia to Pakistan to Korea, but not here. Why can’t we have it here? A mystery hard to solve!
4. The Hot Blondie
This one from Burger King, may have a ridiculous name but listen to what it’s got! Its vanilla sponge cake filled with molten hot white chocolate and topped with whipped cream! Mouthwatering, no? Wouldn’t you like to order it?You have to take a trip to the Netherlands for that. Why not Here? Don’t ask.
5. Mirabelle Plums
This is small smooth-textured plum which is sweet and flavor-full. It is available in the eastern Mediterranean and in France where it is grown in Lorraine. Our import laws are such that it cannot be imported to the US. More’s the pity!
6. Ebi Filet-O
This one originated in MacDonald’s in Japan. It is baby shrimps embedded in breading and deep fried until golden with a panko crust between normal sesame seed buns. It is soft, juicy and succulent, and you can actually taste and see whole shrimp. Yummy? We agree. Available in Japan and Singapore but sadly, unlikely to be seen on these shores.
7. Curly Balls
A French product. Tastes rather like peanut flavored Cheetos. It’s a very crunchy ball filled with peanut paste, and comes in several flavors. You won’t find it here, probably because Cheetos is far too strong a contender.
8. Kit-Kat Pops
9. Kinder Eggs
Also called Kinder Surprise are made by Ferrero, Italy. It is a chocolate egg with a toy inside. About the size of a hen’s egg, the chocolate layer is made of a top layer of milk chocolate and an under layer of white chocolate.Inside it is a container and inside that, the toy. Wouldn’t you say that is an ideal gift for a kid? It is available all over the world, even Canada. The USA, however bans it under the “Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act” as a “choking hazard”.
10. Green Tea Kit Kat
Actually called Matcha Green Tea Kit Kats. They have the flavor of Matcha Green tea. An exotic taste, from Japan, where you also have a lot of other exotic flavors like ‘baked potato’. Again it should be available here but isn’t. Perhaps they fear that it would not sell well enough.
