how to boost your morning moodHave you ever noticed how your morning mood can affect the rest of the day? If your mood is good the rest of the day goes well but if you getout of bed in a bad mood, your day is likely to be crappy. What happens in the morning rules the day. There doesn’t seem to be anything you can do about it. Or isn’t there? Did you know you can actually control your morning mood? While some hassles are unavoidable, there are things you can do to actually improve it.

Let us show you some of the things you can do to ensure that you are always in the right mood when you leave the house.

Stretching out

Before you even get out of bed, Stretch out your arms and legs, and your neck. You know, like cats do? This will increase circulation in your body, which had been lying dormant while sleeping, and to your brain. You will notice a big difference at once.

Wake up in natural light

Try to wake up with sunlight falling on you. When you are going to bed, leave the curtains open a crack so that the first light of the morning sun enters your room. That will have an immediate positive effect on you. Of course that may not be possible round the year, especially in the winter months, but let it happen whenever it’s possible.

Get hydrated

Much of the morning grumpiness is due to your body being dehydrated. During the 6 or 8 hours you sleep, your body is not getting any water but losing lots of it. After you wake up your body craves water. Try to drink at least a pint first thing in the morning. Instant relief from grumpiness.

Give your nerves a shake

You may be the sort of person who needs a shower to get fully alert. Take a cold shower instead of a hot one. It’s guaranteed to wake up your nerves and make you fully alert. It will also get you out of there faster. That will do wonders for your mood. If you find the idea leaves you shivering, at least shut off the hot water for the last few seconds, and let the cold water hit you.

Eat a healthy breakfast

This may sound like impossible advice. There never seem to be enough time to do more than take a swig of coffee, grab a slice of toast and rush out. Make time! Take at least 10 minutes out to sit down and have a healthy breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day. I guarantee you’ll feel better able to face the day.

Wake up to a refreshing aroma

We assume you have a decent coffee brewer with a timing function. If not, get one. Set it to start the brew about five minutes before your alarm rings. There’s nothing quite like waking up to the refreshing fragrance of fresh brewing coffee.

Plan ahead

Don’t take your dressing and makeup decisions as you go along in the morning. Make a habit of laying out your clothes, packing your lunch, and planning your makeup for the next day before going to bed. You’ll feel more confident in the morning knowing that you won’t have to think about all that. Besides you’ll have some free time on your hands, which you can use for breakfast. Remember?

Limber up

Get used to some sort of morning activity – a walk, a jog, or even some simple exercises in bed. You will find it paying off as the day goes on.

Now you know some of the things you can do to be bright and cheerful when you face your day. Don’t wait, start tomorrow, as it’s too late today, and make sure you never have a bad day again.
