As a cat lover, we know you are pretty passionate about cats. That would be even more if you have a preference for exotic breeds. Here are some exotic breeds to whet your appetite. You may or may not have heard of these ten breeds, ranging from somewhat different to totally weird. They also have varying natures. Some are extremely affectionate. Certainly not the average neighborhood tabby.

#1–Sphynxprobably the best known ‘exotic’ breed. You will either love it or may be completely put off by its hairless body, but its large, hypnotic eyes are guaranteed to hold your attention.

#2 – Ukrainian Levkoy This breed can be hairless, have patches of hair, or may be covered with a downy fur. Significantly they have folded-over ears andlarge, narrow eyes. Levkoys are active and friendly cats that love company.

#3 – Cornish Rex is distinguished by its long wavy coat. This is the downy layer as this breed does not grow the two outer layer common in other cats. Other distinguishable features are hollow cheeks, high cheek bones, long noses and feet and a strong chin, and racy colors like lilac, cream and ‘tuxedo’!

#4 – ScottishFold Folded over, nearly invisible ears, and large round eyes make this cat look owlish. Scottish Folds are easy going cats who are known for their affectionate nature.

#5 – Exotic Shorthair Born of an accidental mating between a Persian and an American Shorthair, this breed resembles Persian cats. However, this one has short dense hair. They have round heads, small ears, flattened faces and rounded bodies making them look like Teddy Bears.

#6 – MunchkinMunchkins are a controversial breed distinguished by its small legs. These legs do not hamper their activities though, and perhaps due to the controversy, they are very much in demand.

#7 – Peterbald The Peterbald is mostly hairless. They are long bodied, large eared and have huge almond shaped eyes. The most striking feature of this breed is webbed feet!

#8 – Savannah Cat This one has a wildcat-ish look and can measure up to 17 inches from shoulder to toe. It’s bred from a domestic cat and an African wildcat called the Serval, which account for its looks and size.

#9 – LaPerm This cat has a unique hair growth made up of short, tight curls, long ringlets and straight hair. The first example was born quite ugly and hairless. However it soon grew long curly hair.

#10 – Elf Cat This is one of the most bizarre looking breeds, and is a cross between a Sphynx and an American Curl. This gives them their elfin looks. They are supposed to be hardier that most other purebreds.
