Running on the Android platform gives the camera all the capabilities of your smartphone except for making and receiving calls. You can instantly share your shots on Facebook, Flickr and so on. new polaroid cameraThe camera has all the bells and whistles that come with the Android platform: Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and a 4.5 inch full color touchscreen display that lets you browse the internet in desktop quality, check your mail and other things that you do on the internet. Bluetooth enables you to connect the camera to your smartphone, and using the GPS you can add location data to your photos.

With a 14MP front sensor, you would expect great photographs too. The camera provides photo editing capabilities too, so you can make corrections to the shots.

instant polaroid cameraYou would expect instant prints from a Polaroid camera, and you get it. This camera uses ZINK Zero Ink technology to print on a 2” x 3” special photo paper, and can hold a small stack of these. The prints are water-resistant and smudge-proof, a great improvement over the original Polaroid prints. The paper is inexpensive too, at $15 for a stack of 50. Obviously you can shoot videos with this camera too, with a built in 4GB of memory that is expandable to 32GB via the microSD slot, you can store a vast number of them and photographs on the camera.

The Android platform also enables the camera with yet another trick. It can embed a unique QR code into photos, so that they can be tracked online and identified as your photos.

polaroid instant cameraHowever, perfection is not something you get in real life. If this camera has any disadvantage, it is the steep price. It costs $299.99 which is as much as a middle-of-the-road DSLR. In its defense it must be said that it comes packed with goodies which no camera provides. Another point is the 1st January release date. It just misses Christmas. If it had been released in the middle of December, the sales would surely have gone up massively.

So what we have here is a Polaroid camera which delivers instant prints, but which is more than a camera… A lot more. It is a super camera which packs a huge punch in a small convenient size. You can shoot photos, edit them, take prints and post them on your social media of choice. You can at the same time browse the internet and check your mail. How awesome is that!
