With the festive season just round the corner, it is normal that you will often times not find the time or space for your regular workout routine. That does not mean you have to drop it. What you need is a short intense workout that you can do any time and doesn’t need more space than a yoga mat. Jason Tran, a New York based trainer and instructor has designed this 15-minute workout routine. It is an intense one, designed to push your heart and build your muscle. According to him it is a full body workout that requires no special equipment and little space, and is efficient in burning calories, increasing endurance and strength, and speeding up your metabolism.

This consists of 5 exercises each of which you repeat as many times as possible in 1 minute. Then you repeat the whole set 2 more times. Read on to find out more about this workout. Try it out and the results will speak for themselves.

1. Squats

Squats-15-minute workoutStart by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees while pushing your hips back until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Stand back up immediately.

2. Mountain Climber

Mountain Climber-15-minute workoutStart in a push-up position with the shoulders aligned with your wrists. While keeping your body as straight as possible, pull up a knee and try to touch your chest with it. Push it back immediately and do the same with your other knee. The whole thing should be repeated quickly for 1 minute.

3. Plank Jacks

Plank Jacks-15-minute workoutStart in a forearm plank position. If necessary, you may rest your forearms on a yoga mat. Jump your feet apart and back again like a jumping jack. Make sure your abs are tight and your pelvic is steady at all times.

4. Lateral Lunges

Lateral Lunges-15-minute workoutStart by standing straight up. Now start push your hips back while lowering them. At the same time step out to one side and bend your other knee. Also reach your arms out, while driving through the planted foot. When your stretched leg is extended as far as possible, and the other knee is bent at a 90° angle, stand back up. Do the same with the opposite leg, and repeat the whole thing as fast as you can for 1 minute.

5. Burpees

Burpees-15-minute workoutStart with a squat position with your hands on the ground. Very quickly jump your legs to the lunge position.Lower your chest to the ground. Immediately jump back to the squat position. Without stopping jump straight up as high as you can. The whole thing has to be done rapidly and in a smooth flow.

So there you have it. A 15-minute workout that is designed to be heart=pounding and muscle building. The fact that it is done as rapidly as possible without any pauses makes it ideal for increasing your endurance and pumping up your metabolism, burning a lot of calories. I bet that you will need it during the festive season. Also the fact that you won’t need any equipment or weights makes it very convenient to carry out almost anywhere.
